Baby Namings

The naming of a newborn child has great significance according to Jewish tradition. The name selected carries great meaning for the family, and is a way to connect generations together.

There are different customs surrounding this selection and declaration of the name, which vary depending on the cultural lineage of the family. We work with the new parents to create a baby naming event that responds to these traditions, and is joyous, personal, and meaningful. This service includes songs, blessings, candle lighting, and messages from the parents to those assembled explaining the baby’s name and its significance.

Funerals
The Jewish funeral marks the transition from the passing of a loved one, to the period of mourning and separation. We are available to support families at this time of loss by leading the traditional burial service at the funeral home and/or the graveside. There, Psalms are read, the Eil Malei Rahamim (memorial prayer) is chanted, and a eulogy honoring and celebrating the deceased is given.
